Shape Training

This routine is mostly ideal at 7s level, as it transmits the importance of keeping a decent shape when without the ball.

Layout

All players, set out in the traditional 7 aside shape, 2 at the back 3 mid and one up top.

Action

The ball begins at one of the central defenders, the pass is made the one of the wide midfielders, then to the central midfielder then to the centre forward, who then moves the ball to the other wide midfielder. The routine is continual.

Result

Progressions

  1. Ask one of the players the check off the position, creating a better angle.
  2. Introduce 2 balls.
  3. Change the shape to whatever you wish, 11 aside included.
  4. Bounce pass.
